All operations at Mammoth Mountain were suspended on February 14, 2025 due to an avalanche on Lincoln Mountain, the resort has announced.
The slide occurred around 11:30 a.m. Two Mammoth Ski Patrollers were caught in the avalanche while doing avalanche mitigation work after a massive snow storm in which 6’ of snow fell in the last 36 hours.
“One individual has been extracted from the scene and is responsive, the other patroller was transported to Mammoth Hospital with serious injuries,” Mammoth said in a post on Instagram. “The area was closed to the public at the time of the incident.”
The resort received 34” of snow at the base lodge alone on Friday.
Operations are expected to resume as normal on February 15, 2025, the resort’s snow report says.
