Swiss snowboarder Florian Fischer has died after a battle with bone cancer.

Fischer was just 24 years old. The Beyond Medals Instagram account paid tribute to him on the morning January 6, 2025.

“Our hearts are broken. It’s too unfair to make any sense. We are sorry for you that you had to go so soon because you deserved so much more and you would have kept on making all the time count,” the post says. “You got robbed and did nothing to deserve it. You were so calm and positive when we met up a couple of weeks ago. You held the flag high. remained strong and rational until the end.”

Rest easy brother. You will live in our hearts forever."

Method Magazine revealed the news to its audience in an Instagram post as well.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of Flo’s passing after a courageous and relentless battle with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer,” the post says. “Throughout his fight, Flo’s positivity, strength, and passion for life remained unwavering, inspiring all who knew him. His journey ended far too soon, but the mark he left on our hearts and the snowboarding community will never fade. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, girlfriend, and all those who were close to him. Forever in our hearts, Flo.”

Just nine weeks ago, Fischer was awarded the cover of Method Magazine. His filming footage from the previous season was featured in the Beyond Medals film Force Majeure.

“Stoked I still got some clips for the movie after I broke my hand on the first trip,” Fischer wrote in an Instagram post three weeks ago.

Love poured in from all across the snowboarding world. Benny Milam, Niels Schack, Stevie Bell, Dominick Wagner, and his Beyond Medals teammates Ulrik Badertscher and Sebbe de Buck all sent love via Method Magazine’s post.

Fischer rode for Sims Snowboards. He gained notoriety in 2019 after his part in The Escape Video. Fischer jibs a swing set, tail presses a stone wall, and back-lips a handrail to the tune of deep house trance music.

Fischer had a three-year run on the contest circuit from 2015 to 2018. He won an FIS halfpipe contest at Gridelwald in 2016, and a slopestyle contest at the same venue a year later. He competed in four European Cup events, and competed in a FIS World Cup slopestyle event at Laax in 2017.
