The Bomb Hole is heading back east yet again.

Loon Mountain, New Hampshire, will host the Bomb Hole Beat Down again in January 2026. The free snowboard rail jam will be open to all ability levels, from pro to grom to beginner. Viewing is free, and there will be live music on hand as well.

Everything goes down January 10, 2026.

Spectators are encouraged to hang out around the course and watch riders slide some steel. Portable Window, a band that features riders Mike Ravelson, Mikey LeBlanc, and Harry Hagan, will perform after the rail jam.

There are three rail jam classes:

  • Grom Class is for ages 14 and under.
  • Open Class is for any ability level beginner to intermediate. Prizes will be product, not cash.
  • Pro Class is for advanced riders who will compete for cash prizes. Anyone looking to compete can register online here.

A valid lift ticket or season pass is required to compete, as well as a waiver. Loon will offer spcial competitor day tickets with limited lift access for anyone trying to compete. Pre-registration will be held at The Junction the Friday before the contest from 4 to 6 p.m.

Here’s the complete schedule:

  • 8 – 10:30 a.m. | Check in at The Junction
  • 11 a.m. | Rider's Meeting at the top of Loon Mountain Park
  • 11:15 a.m. – noon | Grom Class competes
  • 12:15 p.m. – 1 p.m. | Open Class competes
  • 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. | Pro Class competes
  • 3 p.m.  – 3:30 p.m. | Awards at the Octagon Lodge Patio
  • 3:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. | Live music from Portable Window in the Paul Bunyan Room.

Any questions regarding the event should be directed to bombholemedia@gmail.com.

Last year’s contest featured Joey B How Ya Doin’ (real name, Joey Bauer) and Bomb Hole host Chris Grenier on the microphone doing some announcing. The event is a bit of a homecoming, as host and cofounder Grenier grew up in central Massachusetts.

January is still two months away, so Loon is bringing the mountains to the city in order to get riders hyped for the season. Well, it’s bringing the après to the city, at least.

Loon will take over Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom on November 15, 2025, for an après-themed Lodge Party. Stop by between 7 and 10 p.m. to enjoy a local house DJ, raffle prizes, and trivia. The party is free to the public, but you can reserve a spot via Eventbrite.
