Marie-France Roy, known lovingly amongst the industry and beyond as MFR, is a renowned Canadian snowboarder celebrated for her versatility, influence, and tenacity in both freestyle and backcountry snowboarding. She is an absolute beast and a legend.
MFR was born on January 18, 1983, in Quebec, Canada. One could argue that her prime year snowboarding was 2015, in which she won Rider of the Year, Female Video Part of the Year and Climate Activist Award from Protect Our Winters and TransWorld SNOWboarding magazine. She has earned numerous accolades in addition to those, including multiple Rider of the Year awards and Readers Choice awards from TransWorld Snowboarding. MFR is also known for her commitment to environmental activism, prominently featuring in the sustainability-focused film "The Little Things."
Now, you can find MFR living on the west coast of Vancouver Island in a cob house made of sustainable materials, and she even owns a seaweed farm.
