The 2026 Winter Olympic Games are quickly approaching which can only mean one thing: we're about to see snowboarders doing the most random stuff off snow.
It looks like Red Gerard making an appearance on season 22 of Top Chef is the first of those guest appearances.
Gerard assisted contestant Bailey Sullivan at the market to shop for ingredients needed for the last Elimination Challenge. A clip previewing the episode shows the duo riding in a car together.
The episode is set in Milan, so the cameo from the Olympians makes perfect sense. Sullivan breaks down her game plan to Gerard in the car ride to the market. Each contestant had 45 minutes and 750 Euros to spend. The clip is only available to watch on CBS.
"I just want emotional support," she says.
"OK, I can push the cart," he responds.
Push the cart, he does. Gerard helps Sullivan panic shop by grabbing mushrooms.
"I always stress out so much at the shops, I don't know why. But today, Red and I are just kind of vibing," Sullivan says.
"Don't want her arms getting tired, pushing the cart around," Gerard says in the next cut.
As an ode to the Italian staples rice and polenta, the contestants were required to make risotto in 35 minutes later in the show. The winner of the contest received $15,000.
Gerard was joined by bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor, Paralympic cross-country skier Oksana Masters, and Paralympic sled hockey player Declan Farmer.
If you thought an appearance on a cooking show seems out of the ordinary for an Olympic gold medalist, you'd normally be right. The difference for Gerard, though, is that cooking runs in the family. His sister, Tieghan Gerard, is the author of the Half Baked Harvest food blog that was later transformed into a cookbook and daily newsletter. In 2024, she started a collaboration with Fig Restaurant in the Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Bungalows in Santa Monica, California.
The 2026 Winter Games will be Gerard's third. He narrowly missed the podium in the men's slopestyle contest at the Beijing Games in 2022, as he was beat out by his good friend, Canadian Mark McMorris. Su Yiming won silver, and Canadian Max Parrot won a controversial gold medal that was plagued by what many considered a lapse in judging, thanks to a knee grab.
Gerard is one of two riders who have already been named to the Olympic team, officially. Chloe Kim is the other. The news became official on May 1, 2025.
