Arapahoe Basin's closing day was already on the calendar. Now, it's certain that there will be a pond skim.

The water at Lake Reveal started to become visible on Saturday afternoon.

"It starts small, but it will grow quickly," the Arapahoe Basin blog said. "We are going to be closed for the next four days, but we will re-open. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will offer a fun weekend of pond skimming."

A closing day of June 8, 2025 was announced earlier in May. The resort had been operating seven days a week until Sunday, June 1, 2025. It will be closed for four days, and will reopen Friday, June 6, 2025 for closing weekend.

Summer activities, which include biking, hiking, live music, and the Aerial Adventure Park, will start on June 27.

"Grab those Hawaiians and bust out the denim, it’s time for some slushy spring skiing this weekend," the resort said on its Instagram page.

The slopes will close at 2 p.m. in order to allow the snow to refreeze overnight. There is no beginner terrain available.

As of 5 p.m. on June 2, A-Basin had a 41" base. The high temperatures hovered just under 60-degrees, while the low was around 38. The resort's parking reservation system has been suspended for the rest of the winter season. Parking will be free through closing day, with no reservations needed.

A-Basin is one of just four ski areas that remains open. Oregon's Timberline Lodge had two lifts spinning and three trails open, along with an 86" base as of June 2. Mammoth Mountain still has 24 trails open, and three lifts spinning. Mammoth has already announced a closing day of June 15, 2025.

The Arizona Snowbowl just held its closing day on Sunday, June 1. It had the longest season in the ski area's history, with 185 skiable days. That started in November, when some freak storms allowed for an opening day of November 8, 2024. That marked the earliest opening day in 87 years.
