12-goal star distracted by Tottenham links; Club ‘happy with the interest’, asking price set
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski.

According to a report from Turkish publication Sabah, the midfielder has had his head turned by the interest from clubs like Tottenham and the distractions have caused his form to decline.

Despite scoring 12 goals this season and picking up 14 assists, his performances in the last few matches have been underwhelming. The report from Sabah adds that Fenerbahce are ‘happy with the interest’ from top clubs despite the player’s decline in form.

They are hoping to sell him for a premium at the end of the season.

Initially, he was valued at €20 million, but the Turkish outfit have raised the asking price to €25 million. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay that kind of money for him.

There is no doubt that the North London outfit of the financial resources to afford the player. He could proved to be a useful option for them in the final third. The 24-year-old could be the ideal under study to James Maddison and his arrival will allow Tottenham to rotate the England international more often.

He will add creativity, goals and vision in the final third. Szymanski could improve further with coaching and experience. A move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for him and he will look to test himself at a high level.

He could easily justify the reported asking price in the coming seasons if he manages to adapt to English football quickly.
