Legendary former Nerazzurri midfielder Wesley Sneijder anticipates that it could be hard for Davy Klaassen to play regularly for Inter Milan.

The 2010 Treble winner spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

Midfielder Klaassen was Inter’s surprise final signing of the summer.

The Nerazzurri swooped in to sign the 30-year-old on a free transfer from Ajax.

Klaassen brings experience and versatility, having played a prominent role for Ajax across two separate spells as well as periods playing for Everton and Werder Bremen.

He has also made 41 appearances for the Dutch national team. The midfielder has scored ten goals for the Oranje.

Inter brought in Klaassen mainly in order to improve their attacking depth for the season. Whilst he is the seventh midfielder in the squad, frequent injuries to Stefano Sensi mean that the Nerazzurri felt Klaassen’s arrival was necessary.

So far, Klaassen has made one appearance in an Inter shirt.

The Dutchman came off the bench against Sassuolo on Wednesday, although he was unable to prevent Inter from suffering their first Serie A defeat of the season.

Sneijder Expects Klaassen Won’t Get Much Playing Time At Inter Milan

Like Klaassen, Sneijder played for both Ajax and Inter.

At both clubs, the legendary Dutchman was a regular in the starting eleven. He was a key player as the Nerazzurri won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League in the 2009-10 season.

And in the view of Sneijder, Klaassen may not play all that much this season.

He said that “I think it will be tough for Klaassen to get playing time.”

The reason that Sneijder gave is that “Midfield is the area where Inter are strongest. So it could be hard for him to break into the team.”

Klaassen is expected to start against Salernitana this evening, with Davide Frattesi out injured.
