Tottenham need to sign some quality midfielders in the summer after enduring a disastrous domestic campaign. The Lilywhites managed to end the season on a high by ending their 17-year wait for a major trophy last week. Ange Postecoglou’s men won the Europa league against all odds and ensured a place in next season’s Champions League. But the Europa League success cannot overshadow the disappointing Premier League campaign.
Spurs need to invest heavily into the squad if they want to close the gap on their rivals and compete for trophies next year. It is clear to see that the Lilywhites struggled to control games from midfield, and the lack of creative players in the squad meant that Ange Postecoglou relied heavily on individual brilliance.
But fans will hope that the North London club is proactive in the summer and makes moves to bring in an attacking midfielder to compete with James Maddison next season. Ange’s men have relied solely on Maddison to create chances for the team, and that has costed the Lilywhites dearly as the England international has not stayed fit for most parts of the campaign.
Tottenham are aiming to bolster their midfield by bringing in reinforcements in the summer. With James Maddison being the only player that can create chances at will for the Lilywhites, Daniel Levy is aiming to sign another attacking midfielder that could provide a different dynamic going forward and provide good backup for Maddison.
It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing Stuttgart star Enzo Millot in the summer. The attacking midfielder has endured a stellar campaign in the Bundesliga and he has admitted that he wants to take the next step in his career. The aforementioned report also suggested that 22-year-old has a release clause of just under £16.7m in his contract.
Now, Tottenham have a received a massive boost in their efforts to land the Stuttgart No.8. As per the German outlet BILD (via Fussball Transfers), Enzo Millot has decided to leave the club in the summer for pastures new. The 22-year-old has indicated that he wants to test himself in a new environment and play Champions League football next season. The report also suggests that Arsenal are in the race to sign the midfielder as well.
Daniel Levy cannot afford to be complacent in the transfer window and he must try to test the waters quickly. The Lilywhites have a fantastic chance of landing Enzo Millot, but they need to act fast to gain advantage over arch rivals Arsenal for his signature. Signing Millot would mean that James Maddison can share the creative burden with the youngster heading into next season.
The Stuttgart star would be an ideal player to buy in the summer. He tends to carry the ball into the final third of the pitch with ease. Enzo Millot is a playmaker by trait, and thrives in the pockets of space between the defence and midfield. His passing range is second to none and he tends to lure the defenders towards him to create space for his teammates. The Frenchman would be an ideal fit for Ange’s system.
