Tottenham Hotspur are building towards a new project under ex-Brentford manager Thomas Frank. Having won silverware last season in the form of the Europa League, Daniel Levy & Co. will understand the importance of backing the manager to help him build on the foundation laid by Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs fans might have been critical of the Australian tactician’s stubbornness last season, when he failed to make changes even when the results were going South. However, when it mattered the most, he ensured that his team was set up in a way that helped them lift the Europa League at Man Utd’s expense.

With a new season on the horizon, reinforcements are the order of the day. However, the club are likely to also be looking at potential exits for certain players. In that regard, it is not often that you see a fanbase not necessarily happy when a player intends to stay, rather than leave.

Richarlison wants to stay at Tottenham

Now, as per football columnist David Hytner on the Guardian, Brazilian star attacker Richarlison is keen on staying at Tottenham Hotspur this summer unless an exceptional offer arrives. The ex-Evertonian has been at the N17 for some time now but it is safe to say that things haven’t worked out.

Having initially failed to convince Antonio Conte of a regular starting berth, Richarlison’s injury troubles prevented him from becoming a regular feature under Ange Postecoglou. Despite some fleeting moments of brilliance, his time in North London has mostly been marked by disappointment.

It is fair to say that the N17 fanbase have never really gotten behind the Brazilian and wouldn’t mind seeing him leave this summer. However, with his desire to stay, it might not please the supporters as his exit might have allowed the club to make a reinforcement in that position.

Can he stay fit?

Richarlison was rated quite highly during his time at Everton in the Premier League. However, his stocks have fallen quite massively in recent seasons due to his lack of availability and inconsistency on the pitch and even if he were to leave, one doubts that there will be a significant offer coming Tottenham’s way.

Regardless, if the player decides to dig his heels in and try and resurrect his career at the N17, the upcoming season under Thomas Frank could end up being make-or-break. The most important thing for the 28-year-old Brazilian would be staying fit over the course of the season and only time will tell us how it plays out.
