2 chances created, 3 dribbles completed: United’s brightest spark vs Arsenal withdrawn with injury scare

Amad Diallo’s first Premier League start of the season ended with him appearing to sustain an injury.

If it wasn’t an injury setback, you’d have to wonder what on earth was going through Erik ten Hag’s head to swap the Ivorian for Antony.

Manchester United trail 1-0 against Arsenal heading into the closing stages of the clash, with Amad only able to last 70 minutes. In the first half, he had to receive treatment from the medical staff after being tripped by Thomas Partey’s trailing leg on the edge of the area, although it wasn’t deemed worthy of a spot-kick, according to VAR.

Prior to his substitution, Amad was shown on the floor clutching his knee before walking gingerly off the pitch and being replaced by Antony.

The 21-year-old had undoubtedly been United’s brightest spark throughout his shift, completing a remarkable three dribbles in the first 45 minutes – one more than the entirety of Arsenal’s squad and the most of any player on the pitch.

He also created two chances, won six duels and won 100 per cent of his tackles (Statman Dave).

Hopefully, it was a precautionary decision from the manager, and Amad will be able to flaunt his magic in United’s remaining three fixtures.
