Manchester United have had a difficult time moving players out this summer, leaving a big question mark over how much they’ll be able to add to the squad before the window closes.

Ineos already made progress on new additions with Matheus Cunha, but without player sales to bring in fresh funds, any further additions tend to progress slowly.

United would happily sell Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho, but those deals are proving hard to negotiate given the size of their contracts and questions about form.

Beyond them, one potential sale picking up pace is starting to stand out: Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund ‘excited’ by Napoli interest

It’s been a challenging year for Hojlund, who saw his value slip as his form dipped, now down to around £30m after joining for £64m just two seasons ago.

According to CaughtOffside, Hojlund is “excited” by the chance to work with Antonio Conte at Napoli, who is said to have made a personal push to bring him in.

The Serie A champions are also believed to have an eye on Alejandro Garnacho, but the winger is reportedly more interested in staying in England, at least for now.

Why Antonio Conte sees Rasmus Hojlund as a Napoli fit

If Hojlund does link up with Napoli, he’ll find a familiar face in the dressing room. Former teammate Scott McTominay has already become a fan favourite in Naples, having helped lead the club to a league title since his £25m move last summer.

Hojlund would be expected to bring energy and movement up top, providing an outlet behind Napoli’s physical front line – a role similar to the one McTominay has thrived in since his arrival.

That might explain Conte’s interest. Reports suggested he was “obsessed” with signing McTominay during those negotiations, and now the manager appears equally focused on Hojlund as his next midfield addition.

But Napoli’s title win wasn’t built on star power alone. The team functions as a unit, and Conte’s style demands tactical discipline before all else.

Hojlund won’t be expected to dominate games, but instead play a defined role in attack, one built around pressing, movement and work without the ball.

If those deals are anything to go by, Conte will expect Hojlund to adapt quickly and contribute to a winning side immediately
