Championship clubs eye Manchester United defender

Godwill Kukonki has attracted loan interest from several Championship clubs, with Southampton, Norwich City and Birmingham City among those to have made enquiries, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

There has also been interest from clubs elsewhere in Europe, while Premier League sides have been keeping a close eye on the defender’s situation.

Kukonki has now returned to training at United after previously considering whether his future would be better served by leaving the club permanently.

The defender is currently in the third year of his scholarship agreement and could finally sign the professional terms that United initially agreed with him last year.

A professional contract would also make a temporary move possible, with a loan increasingly appearing to be a potential route for Godwill Kukonki to gain senior experience.

Interestingly, Kukonki was not among the 9 academy players United handed professional contracts to this summer, adding further intrigue to his situation.
