3 players that Thomas Frank could be looking to sign in his first summer incharge at N17 – Opinion

With Thomas Frank taking charge of the proceedings at North London, there are set to be massive changes in how the club operates, and it starts with the Dane head coach bringing in a more data-driven approach to recruitment. And we are already seeing so if we consider the links that the Lilywhites are tagged with of late, given how each of the linked players fits into his playing style quite seamlessly.

We take a look at three players that Thomas Frank could be looking to sign at Hotspur Way this summer.

Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)

The right winger cum second striker has showcased his ability to be one of the most tactically intelligent and selfless offensive players in the English top tier of late, and given that he has played under Thomas Frank, he knows the Dane’s system inside out and has played in multiple roles, as a wide right forward and even as an inverted striker and even so as a shadow runner.

Now he could quite possibly be the start of Thomas Frank’s revolution at Tottenham, given that he could bridge the gap between the tactical considerations of the head coach and realities on the pitch. And this takes away a lot out of the adaptation period for Frank, given how signing the 25-year-old allows Frank to replicate the pressing triggers he implemented at Gtech Community Stadium and attacking width with quite familiar tools.

Nathan Collins (Brentford)

With Cristian Romero linked with a move away from Hotspur Way, Daniel Levy has been scrapping the centre-back market to find the right personnel to replace the Argentine. And given that Collins was a cornerstone signing for the Dane head coach during their shared time at Brentford, he could be another easy fit option that Daniel Levy can hand to his new head coach.

Nathan Collins isn’t the heir to the risky approach that Romero implemented at Tottenham; in fact, he is more of an antithesis of it, and that is exactly why he makes sense at N17 now. The thing is that he will not give you fire, but then Collins won’t burn your backline either.

Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United)

Now this, in many ways, is not your typical Thomas Frank signing. The situation that the Lilywhites are presented with Heung Min-Son and the one that the Argentine winger has been presented with at Old Trafford makes it ideal for the North Londoners to consider securing his signature.

With Son visibly enduring physical decline, bringing in Garnacho means that Tottenham will get the same direct yet vertical ball-carrying player to replace the South Korean. And given that the North Londoners are looking to build a side for the upcoming 3 to 5 years, Garnacho, given his potential, is suddenly someone worth banking on.
