Daily Mail reporter Nathan Salt reaffirmed that Andre Onana will stay at Manchester United, despite recurring rumours around the goalkeeper. United have faced a lot of problems in recent seasons, with Onana taking the centre stage for the wrong reasons.

The Red Devils finished 15th last season in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. The season involved a managerial transition as Erik ten Hag lost the job to Ruben Amorim, who installed his philosophy.

However, the problems have persisted with the Portuguese boss planning a squad overhaul to reshape the team in his image. While Amorim has started the summer plans by prioritising the attacking department, other areas of the team remain a concern.

With the goalkeeping department as one of the areas, it was only a matter of time before rumours surrounded Onana. Onana joined United from Inter Milan for  £47.2m in the summer of 2023 to replace the legendary David De Gea.

We All Follow United covered that AS Monaco have provided United with an opportunity to part ways with the 29-year-old. According to Daily Mail reporter Salt (via X), Onana will stay at United despite the recurring rumours about his departure.

The Cameroonian international has made many high-profile errors since joining the club under Ten Hag, immediately drawing unwanted attention. The goalkeeping position at United comes with a unique pressure as the club has had many legendary players in that position.

From Peter Schmeichel to Edwin van der Sar, these goalkeepers dominated at Old Trafford for years and created a pattern. The stability built from defence helped in building the foundation of the club to achieve great successes.

That stability remained intact under De Gea, despite the club’s struggle after Sir Alex Ferguson retired as the manager. However, the reliability is lacking under Onana, and the next season is his last chance to prove himself at United.
