Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with an exit from the club in the summer.

A report from TEAMtalk claims that Chelsea have asked the player to lower his wage demands to sign a contract extension. The 24-year-old is demanding wages of over £150,000 per week to sign a new deal with the club.

Chelsea are prepared to cash in on him if he is unwilling to accept a more reasonable contract.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are waiting to pounce at the right opportunity and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done. Chelsea are prepared to sell the player for £50 million if they fail to agree on a new deal with Gallagher.

The report states that the player is a priority target for Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Tottenham need a hard-working central midfielder in the summer and Gallagher would certainly be the ideal acquisition for them. He will add work rate, defensive cover, and pressing ability to the side. He has established himself as a reliable central midfielder in the Premier League and Tottenham would do well to secure his services.

The £50 million asking price could be a bit of a problem especially with his current contract expiring in 2025. Spurs will hope to sign him for a more reasonable fee and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea decide to reduce their asking price.
