Following the additions of names like Liam Delap, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Joao Pedro, Chelsea are now turning their attentions to trimming the squad. There are a number of players with no future as part of the project who are expected to leave, which could shave off a hefty amount from the weekly wage budget. Ben Jacobs has reported that three specific names are “expected to be sold”

Expensive Trio Expected to Leave Chelsea Permanently

Raheem Sterling

The biggest earner at the club but also one of the least in-form players in the entire squad. Earning a reported £325,000 every week on wages, Sterling spent last term at Arsenal and failed to make a lasting impression. He was a regular the prior campaign under Mauricio Pochettino but with Enzo Maresca’s system change and more competition joining, he’s lost his place in the squad.

The club will be eager to shift the multiple-time Premier League winner to get his hefty wages off the books and try to claw back some of the fee they paid Manchester City a few short years ago.

Ben Chilwell

A victim of the ownership and managerial changes, the Champions League winner went from an integral wing-back under Thomas Tuchel to an injury-prone player without a place in the modern setup. Chilwell doesn’t necessarily fit Maresca’s preferred vision for a full-back and after a rather mediocre spell with Crystal Palace on loan, he may not be capable of playing for a top team regardless.

He was reportedly handed a contract for £225,000 a week wages, making him a high earner that’s rather difficult to offload. With the World Cup coming up next year that may push the Englishman to take a wage cut to find regular playing time to fight his way into Tuchel’s squad.

Axel Disasi

Bought from Monaco following an injury to Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi has had an inconsistent time with the Blues. He’s been pushed out to right-back as injury cover and pushed to play a more dynamic role as a centre-back than he’s capable of. he’s clearly got defensive quality but doesn’t fit the current ideology of the team.

Likely the easiest one to move he had a solid loan spell with Aston Villa and reportedly earns just £78,000 for wages. It’s no surprise that the team expects to move him on as he could have the biggest market of the trio.
