Manchester United have formally submitted their retained list to the Premier League ahead of the full confirmation of departures and contract decisions being announced publicly.
The document is part of a restructuring process at Old Trafford as INEOS and head coach Michael Carrick continue shaping the squad for the 2026/27 season.
Planning for the summer has been underway for some time, with several exits already expected across both senior and academy levels as the club looks to streamline its squad.
The changes come amid a broader push to refresh the squad depth while maintaining a clear pathway for emerging youth players stepping into senior football.
Among the confirmed senior departures are Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho, all of whom will leave the club as their current deals come to an end, as United revealed on their website.
Casemiro exits after four seasons at Old Trafford, during which he made 160 appearances and scored 26 goals, becoming a key figure in United’s recent trophy success.
The Brazilian midfielder was instrumental in the 2023 Carabao Cup triumph, scoring in the final against Newcastle United, and also lifted the FA Cup in 2024, with his performances this season earning him a recall to Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He is now close to sealing a move to the United States, with Inter Miami emerging as his preferred destination despite interest from LA Galaxy and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Jadon Sancho’s departure follows 83 appearances for the club since joining in 2021, with the winger having been part of the Carabao Cup-winning squad in 2023.
After loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, where he lifted the Europa League, he is now expected to return to Dortmund for a third spell.
Tyrell Malacia also leaves after making 50 appearances since arriving in 2022, with injuries limiting his impact in recent seasons despite being part of the 2023 Carabao Cup-winning squad.
His exit was confirmed by Carrick following the final home game of the campaign, with supporters given the chance to say farewell.
Carrick said: “There’s Tyrell [Malacia], who I spoke to the boys about before kick-off. He’s been through a tough time due to injuries. I encourage you to show him your support.”
Tyrell Malacia later posted on X: “Grateful for every moment, every challenge and every memory.
“Thank you to the fans, my teammates, the staff and everyone at the club for the support throughout this journey. It’s been an honour to wear this shirt.
“Wishing the club all the best for the future.”
Alongside the senior exits, a number of academy players will also depart as part of the club’s broader squad reset.
Sonny Aljofree leaves after a long association with United, having joined the academy at the age of nine before signing his first professional contract in 2021.
He later captained the Under-21s and signed an extended deal in May 2023.
James Bailey departs after progressing through the youth system, having joined from Burnley at Under-14 level in 2021 before officially signing as a scholar in 2024.
Malachi Sharpe also exits, having arrived from Derby County in 2021 before signing professional terms in 2022 after progressing through the academy ranks.
With both senior and youth exits confirmed, attention now turns to how Manchester United will reshape their squad heading into a crucial summer window under Carrick and INEOS.
