A good weekend for Celtic as title rivals left ‘disappointed’ in Dingwall

After a strange first half, Celtic clicked into top gear after the interval and played some lovely football. Three goals from Reo Hatate, Kyogo and Adam Idah secured the points and sent an ‘over to you’ message to Philippe Clement and his side for their trip up the A9.

Fast-forward to this afternoon and our fierce title rivals have come a cropper up in the Highlands, as Don Cowie and his Staggies side overcame the odds and the officials, it has to be said, to find themselves picking up a fantastic three points in their own race to avoid relegation. That one goes a long, long way to condemning Livingston to the Scottish Championship next term, much to the relief of the football enthusiasts.

In the process, Cowie has given a major advantage to Celtic in this year’s Scottish Premiership title race and after the 3-3 draw last weekend which Phillipe Clement declared a moral victory, the Belgian manager and his side are now facing the prospect of going to  Dens Park on Dundee this Wednesday facing massive pressure to narrow the gap on Celtic.

In the aftermath of the game, the wailing and gnashing of the teeth has begun, as has to be expected with a result like this it has to be said. However, many thought that once the VAR officials Andrew Dallas helped the Ibrox club back into the game with another penalty decision late into the match, that it would provide the springboard for them to salvage something from the match.

Celtic have fulfilled all their pre-split fixtures so don’t have a game this midweek.  That gives the Celtic support. great chance to get along to Paradise to support Elena Sadiku’s Celtic FC Women side as they take on Hibs in a crucial SWPL1 match and the title race is just as close in the women’s game.

Celtic FC Women are currently leading Partick Thistle 4-0 at the interval and you can watch the second half as it’s live on BBC Alba. Tash Flint has scored a double and Hayes and Agnew have also found the back of the net in a dominant Celtic showing.

Brendan Rodgers’ side is back in action at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Saturday and will have the backing of a huge Celtic support with many of Aberdeen’s supporters choosing  to give this one a miss. Having initially asked for an equal share of the tickets, the Pittodrie side will be lucky to have 10k supporters at Hampden with Celtic having four times that number.
