In the closing act of the midweek round, Pisa will host Lazio at the Arena Garibaldi. The contest will take place on Thursday at 20:45 local time.

The Nerazzurri are still chasing their maiden victory since returning to the top flight, while Maurizio Sarri’s men will be looking to confirm their upturn by winning back-to-back matches for the first time since February.

To make matters even more compelling, this will be the first official meeting between the two sides since 1991. So it’s time to revisit the numbers behind this revived fixture.

Prior to the current campaign, Pisa had only featured in seven Serie A seasons, and just three of them witnessed meetings with Lazio. Therefore, these two clubs only shared the pitch on six occasions in Serie A. The most common result has been a draw, as it ensued in three of their meetings, while the Aquile have the slightest of advantages, winning twice and losing once.

The aggregate score is fairly low, with Lazio outscoring their foes 5-4. Former Lazio stars Bruno Giordano and Ruben Sosa lead the charts with two goals apiece.

Lazio are undefeated in their away Serie A fixtures against Pisa, registering two draws and prevailing on one occasion. The aggregate score is 4-3 in favor of the Biancocelesti.

    • Latest Pisa Victory vs Lazio: The Tuscans only emerged victorious on one occasion against the capital side, and it dates back to their first-ever Serie A meeting, which took place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on January 7, 1984. Arturo Vianelli scored the solitary goal of the contest.
    • Latest Lazio Victory vs Pisa: The Aquile prevailed the last time these two clubs met on May 5, 1991. The visitors returned to the capital with three points in the bag, thanks to Sosa’s winner in the 70th minute.
    • Latest Draw Between Pisa & Lazio: The last time these two sides shared the spoils was December 30, 1990. That contest was hosted by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. At the time, Dino Zoff was in the Biancocelesti’s dugout, while Pisa’s head coach was none other than Mircea Lucescu. However, the match failed to deliver, ending in a disappointing goalless draw.
