AC Milan monitoring free agent ex-Gunner after Arsenal exit

Takehiro Tomiyasu may not be clubless for long if the latest reports are to be believed.

Injury struggles limited the Japanese international to just 84 appearances for Arsenal across four seasons, a tally that felt underwhelming given his early promise. Clearly, his relationship with the club had run its course. Something had to give.

That shift came when Arsenal made the bold decision to terminate his contract, setting him free to pursue a fresh start.

Now available and there for the taking, Tomiyasu remains unsigned, but as a free agent he can still make the move despite the transfer window closing. So, will we see him back on the pitch soon, and will it be in Europe?

Big clubs trailing Tomiyasu

Football Italia have hinted at what could be next, saying:

“AC Milan are monitoring free-agent defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, though no formal offer has been made yet.

“The Japanese international is attracting interest from Serie A, the Turkish Super League, La Liga, and the Premier League.

“Clubs are carefully assessing his injury status before making a move.”

Tomiyasu needs a new home soon

One can only hope Tomiyasu’s injury woes are behind him and that a top club like AC Milan takes the plunge. There is no doubting the quality he brings. The former Bologna man is capable of playing across the back four, and his technical ability makes him one of the few defenders suited to the inverted full-back role.

Having impressed in Serie A before Arsenal signed him for £19.8 million, a return to Italy would feel like a natural fit.

Once a Gunner, always a Gunner. Hopefully, Tomiyasu will find a new club soon, earn regular minutes, and build momentum ahead of the World Cup in the USA next year. It would be brilliant to see him shine on the international stage.
