Alejandro Camaño says Achraf Hakimi’s Inter transfer in 2020 wasn’t a mistake by Zizou Zidane and reveals Lautaro Martinez received ‘spectacular’ offers to leave Inter, but he always said ‘no.’
Camaño’s clients Hakimi and Lautaro Martinez will meet at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday, May 31, for the 2025 Champions League Final.
The Spain-based agent spoke to Diario AS in Spain ahead of tomorrow’s showdown.
Hakimi is a former Inter defender, who only spent one season at San Siro, winning one Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
The Morocco international joined the Nerazzurri from Real Madrid, but Camaño refused to blame the then-Merengues coach Zidane.
“Inter signed him because they pushed hard for him. PSG understood he was going to become the best in the world, and they were not wrong,” he explained.
“His departure from Madrid was due to the presence of Carvajal, who has been one of the best in the world in the same position.
“That completion improved Achraf. It wasn’t a mistake by Zidane. He has a great friendship with him and his sons, but we needed him to play 40 games. Real Madrid always treated him with affection.”
Lautaro Martínez has been playing for Inter since 2018, becoming increasingly important for the Serie A giants and earning the Nerazzurri captaincy last season.
The Argentine could have joined Atletico Madrid seven years ago, but Lautaro picked Inter instead.
“I know Atletico went all in. He’s always had a special fondness for Soain. If there’s one place he’d like to play if he leaves Inter, it’s Spain,” said his agent.
“He’s a competitor and he’s the Inter captain and takes that as a responsibility. He sees himself as a role model. I received spectacular offers for Lautaro, but he always told me: ‘No, Inter.’ It’s truly important.”
Lautaro is Inter’s best scorer this season with 22 goals in 48 matches.
