Ajax are weighing up a move for Rolando Mandragora, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on his website on Monday. The 29-year-old Fiorentina midfielder has also attracted interest from Genoa.
Technical director Jordi Cruijff has been looking for a number six for Ajax's midfield for some time. Edson Álvarez, Dani Ceballos and Patrick Berg are among the names linked with the Amsterdam club, but none of those moves has been completed.
Ajax have yet to decide whether, or when, to make an opening bid to Fiorentina, where Mandragora is under contract until mid-2028. Torino and Bologna are also said to be tracking the midfielder.
Mandragora joined Juventus in 2016. The club sent him out on loan several times before bringing him back in 2020 for fifteen million euros. Fiorentina then paid just over eight million euros for the Italian in the summer of 2022.
Last season, the midfielder linked with Ajax made 34 Serie A appearances. Mandragora scored seven goals and provided three assists in that run. He won one cap for the Italy national team in 2018.
Transfermarkt value the 1.83-metre holding midfielder at nine million euros. Cruijff must now decide whether he is willing to pay that amount for the much-desired number six.
