Al-Nassr begin their King’s Cup campaign tonight when they take on Al-Diriyah at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh.
Ange Postecoglou’s side come into the match after a strong 3-0 win over Al-Fateh in their opening Saudi Pro League game. Now they turn their attention to the cup, but they will have to do it without their biggest star.
The match kicks off at 9:00 PM Riyadh time (02:00 PM ET in the USA) today, Tuesday. Alawwal Park is not solely Al-Nassr’s home ground anymore, as they have agreed to share the stadium with newly promoted Al-Diriyah FC for the 2026–27 season.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not play tonight. The Al-Nassr captain has been given extra time to rest after returning late to the squad for personal reasons.
Cristiano Ronaldo is officially out for tonight’s King’s Cup match. He missed Al-Nassr’s 3-0 win over Al-Fateh and will not even be on the bench against Al-Diriyah.
Postecoglou’s staff have decided to give Ronaldo an extended rest after his late return to the squad. The Portuguese forward is expected to return for the Saudi Pro League match against Al Riyadh on August 21.
Without Ronaldo, João Félix, Angelo and Sadio Mané will carry most of the attacking responsibility. All three were involved in Al-Nassr’s impressive start to the league season.
Al-Nassr are also expected to rotate several players as Postecoglou looks to avoid putting too much early-season workload on his key players.
For Al-Diriyah, there are no major injury concerns reported, and Bruno Lage’s side should have a strong team available for the cup tie.
Experienced players such as Chancel Mbemba and Idrissa Gueye will be important if the newly promoted side are to cause an upset.
Al-Nassr may be the favorites, but with Ronaldo out and rotation expected, Al-Diriyah will believe they have a chance to make this King’s Cup clash much more difficult than it looks on paper.
