Manchester United’s recent rebuild has seen several departures as the club reshapes the squad.

Among those exits, few sparked as much debate as Alejandro Garnacho, who was once seen as one of the brightest attacking prospects to emerge from the club’s academy in recent years.

The Argentine winger had shown flashes of brilliance at Old Trafford, including decisive goals and moment of individual quality that made him a real fan favourite during his rise through the ranks.

However, his attitude and performance under former manager Ruben Amorim paved the way for his departure, with the club sanctioning his £40 million move to Chelsea in the summer of 2025.

Now plying his trade in London, Alejandro Garnacho has endured a mixed first season at Stamford Bridge, struggling to consistently replicate the impact he once showed in a United shirt.

In the Premier League, the 21-year-old has managed limited returns, with just one goal across league appearances, while his overall contributions across competitions have remained modest.

This has not been helped by the appointment of Liam Rosenior with the Argentine starting only two games since his appointment.

His adjustment period has been evident, with Chelsea’s attacking reshuffle and competition for places making it difficult for him to establish himself as a guaranteed starter.

Attention has now turned to matters off the field, with Garnacho fined £660 and handed three penalty points after admitting to speeding near Manchester United’s Carrington training ground last year, as Sam C reports via X.

The incident, which occured just days before his move to Chelsea was completed, has only recently come to light.

His legal representatives stated that the winger was embarassed by the situation.

While the punishement itself remains minor, the timing of the offence has inevitably drawn attention given the narrative surrounding his United exit and fresh start elsewhere.

Alejandro Garnacho now needs to focus on rediscovering his consistency on the pitch and leave this matter behind him.
