Chelsea surprised a lot of people this past summer transfer window when they spent a cool 40 million pounds in order to sign attacking midfielder and left winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United to keep the disgruntled attacker in the Premier League.
Although Garnacho had flashed his potential at Old Trafford and was once viewed as one of the world’s most touted prospects, he failed to take that next step for Man United and often frustrated both coaches and teammates with his work ethic and inconsistency.
Garnacho had some bright moments to start life at Stamford Bridge, too, but he has pretty quickly wore out his welcome with those same exact issues at Manchester United opopping up again for the Blues.
The 21 year old Argentinian international got another 20 minutes or so to run around against Napoli in a must win Champions League match, and while the Blues did still hold on to win, Garnacho was not to thank for the effort.
Garnacho came into the game and proceeded to do next to nothing out on the flank for Chelsea, and when you compare what he offers vs. what Brazilian phenom Estevao Willian is doing, it is pretty clear that Garnacho was overvalued by Manchester United from the get go until they realized he is not that guy.
Well, all Garnacho has done through about six months at Chelsea is prove Manchester United right, and there will be no experience of FOMO from the Old Trafford faithful with regards to the Garnacho transfer.
It was only a cameo appearance off the bench, but it really is glaring when the entire Chelsea fan base cringes “don’t pass” to Garnacho and “don’t shoot” or “don’t dribble” when Garnacho has the ball. His selfish, inefficient playing style has already lost its luster at Stamford Bridge, too.
