Alejandro Garnacho supports Paul Scholes on social media

It’s fair to say there’s no love lost between Alejandro Garnacho and his former club, Manchester United.

The Argentinan winger saw his United career come to an end when he spoke out after the Europa League final, undermining Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho made his thoughts known that after being a key member of the squad throughout the European tournament, he was baffled to be left out of the starting line-up for the final.

Needless to say, Amorim, who has never been one to pull his punches, told the winger to find a new club, demoting him to his “bomb squad” as a priority sale for the summer.

As such, a move to Chelsea seemed inevitable, after their keen interest in the winter which failed to materialise, but came through for a fee of £40 million ahead of the new season.

However, Garnacho is obviously keeping up to date on socials with his former club as he’s shown support for Kobbie Mainoo through a post from Paul Scholes.

Mainoo and Garnacho both came through the United academy together and arguably saved Erik ten Hag’s job by breaking through into the squad and scoring both goals in the club’s FA Cup win in 2024, securing Europa League football for The Red Devils.

However, since Ruben Amorim’s arrival, not only has Garnacho been sold, but Mainoo has been demoted to making cameo appearances from the bench.

As such, Paul Scholes took to social media, adding one of Ruben Amorim’s comments on Mainoo to his Instagram story.

The comments from Amorim that Scholes took up against were the United manager saying about Kobbie Mainoo: “I consider him a starter just like the other players.”

Not holding back, Scholes commented: “B******t. The kid is being ruined, not being played in a team that can’t control a game of football.”

He continued: “Hate seeing home grown players leave but it’s probably best for him now, enough is enough.”

Whislt the story is no longer available on Scholes’ account, United Chat uploaded a screenshot of the story, which saw Alejandro Garnacho like the post.

Given that Mainoo and Garnacho worked so closely together, it’s no surprise that Garnacho would be supportive of these comments from Scholes, especially after his treatment at the end of his time at Old Trafford.
