Alejandro Garnacho completed a £40 million move from Manchester United to Chelsea in the summer of 2025, bringing an end to his long association with the Red Devils.

That same summer, United reshaped their own attack by signing three forwards, including Matheus Cunha, who memorably scored the winner against Garnacho’s Chelsea in a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Despite arriving in west London with high expectations, Garnacho’s future is already attracting speculation following an inconsistent debut campaign.

There has recently been contact from Roma over a potential move for the Argentine international.

However, fresh reports have now provided a clearer picture of Chelsea’s stance.

Chelsea stance on Garnacho emerges

According to football.london, Chelsea are open to selling Alejandro Garnacho this summer after just one season at the club.

The report states that although there is interest in the 22-year-old, the Blues will only consider permanent offers and are not prepared to sanction a loan move.

Garnacho remains under contract until 2032 but failed to establish himself as an undisputed starter, despite making 43 appearances during his first season at the club.

The winger was unable to cement a regular place under any of Chelsea’s three head coaches throughout the campaign, leading to uncertainty surrounding his long-term future.

Football.london adds that while potential suitors are monitoring the situation, there have not yet been any club-to-club negotiations over a transfer.

Chelsea are expected to oversee a major squad overhaul under Xabi Alonso this summer, with several first-team players available if suitable offers arrive.

Alongside Garnacho, the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Filip Jorgensen, Andrey Santos, Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez are all reportedly available for the right price.

For now, Garnacho remains a Chelsea player.

However, with Roma already making contact and Chelsea willing to listen to permanent offers, the former Manchester United winger’s future looks set to remain one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window.
