Massimiliano Allegri believes Rafael Leao will have a ‘great season’ but insists the Rossoneri will need the ‘fans’ support’ in 2025-26.

Allegri was unveiled at a press conference on Monday.

The Tuscan tactician reiterated that the first target for the new campaign must be a place in the Champions League.

Allegri also said he had met club owner Gerry Cardinale at dinner and sent a message to the fans who have been very critical of the club owner in recent years.

Allegri message to Milan fans

“It was a pleasant lunch, and I was very pleased,” Allegri said via Milannews.

“To the fans, I say the most important thing is to work well every day. The only way to regain respect is through responsibility and by achieving results. We will absolutely need their support.”

While Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez won’t be part of the team next season, Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao seem willing to stay.

“I’m very happy Maignan chose to stay,” said Allegri.

Allegri makes Leao prediction

“He’s the team’s captain, an international player, one of the best in the world. Credit to the club for convincing him to stay. I’m sure Leao will have a great season.

“I believe in him [Leao]. He’s reaching his peak years as players usually hit maturity between 26 and 30. I think he’s becoming more responsible,” Allegri continued.

“I spoke to him this morning and I believe everything’s in place for a great season.

“He needs 360-degree vision. Leao has extraordinary qualities, so do Loftus, Ricci, Tomori, and Jimenez. I must put them in the best position to perform.”
