We are just into the early days of new head coach Thomas Frank’s tenure at Hotspur Way, with his arrival aiming towards the start of a new era at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And while he settles into his cubicle at Hotspur Way, academy striker Will Lankshear has given glowing praise towards the former Brentford boss, calling him a “top-class manager” and going on to praise his tactical influence since taking the reins at N17.
The 20-year-old Tottenham academy graduate has been preparing for the new season with the first team and insists that he has already been struck by how sharp the 51-year-old, along with his coaching staff, has been in the last weeks.
This Thomas Frank arrival comes at a critical time for the North Londoners, especially given how a distinct number of supporters and players were reportedly not all aboard with the Lilywhites decision to show the doors to Ange Postecoglou, but the Dane head coach has come in and has gone on to slowly rebuild the trust within the squad, and as we are seeing, results have followed.
The North Londoners are unbeaten in pre-season, which includes a memorable 1-0 win over Arsenal. And when we look off the pitch, key figures in the dressing room like Cristian Romero, who once looked on the verge of leaving, are now expected to stay put for the upcoming campaign.
And moreover, the atmosphere around the club is noticeably brighter, as both fans and players are warming quickly to the new head coach.
Speaking in an interview with Football.London ahead of the Lilywhites game against Bayern Munich, Will Lankshear said:
“Amazing. I think he is a top-class manager. He did so well for Brentford, and I think he will be really good for us.
“Tactically, he is amazing, and I’m really excited to see what we can do this year and in the years to come.”
For Will Lankshear, at the moment it doesn’t look like he would have a lot of game time under his belt with Richarlison looking fit and ready to go, complemented by the fact that Daniel Levy has been linked with a move to bring in another forward to the roster at Hotspur Way, making it all the more difficult for the 20-year-old academy graduate to find some minutes.
But given how calm Frank generally is with how he goes about player development, he would surely have a plan for Will as well.
