Andre Onana makes transfer stance during loan

Andre Onana will return to Manchester United at the end of the season, as it stands.

The 30-year-old is out on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor after the Red Devils failed to shift him permanently in the summer.

Onana made 102 appearances for the Red Devils between 2023 and 2025 after being signed from Inter Milan.

However, he proved to be error-prone and was shown his marching orders before the 2025/26 season, shipped out to Turkey for a first spell with Trabzonspor.

United found a successful replacement in Senne Lammens, signed from Royal Antwerp for a bargain £18m fee. It meant Onana returned this summer knowing once again he was unwanted. The Red Devils and the Cameroonian’s agent could only muster up another loan.

Three months into his second Trabzonspor spell, Andre Onana has played eight times for the seven-time Süper Lig champions, keeping two clean sheets and conceding ten goals.

According to Africafoot, Trabzonspor wish to sign him permanently, but Onana himself does not see it that way. The reliable publication for affairs surrounding African football reveals that a source close to his family admits Onana does not plan to spend a third season in Turkey.

Despite Trabzonspor’s growing interest, those around Onana are not prioritizing this option at the moment, the outlet states.

It will come as a shame for Manchester United, who may find it difficult to shift their failed £47m signing.

The report continues that Onana knows that the door to a return to Old Trafford to establish himself as number one seems definitively closed.

He therefore hopes to “bounce back towards a new project and embark on a new challenge, even if no destination is favored for the moment,” at the end of the season.

Onana’s loan in Trabzonspor is in its early stages, and the shot-stopper has plenty of thinking time before a final decision needs to be made yet, but the revelation that he sees his future elsewhere comes as no real surprise, as a keeper with so much experience at the top level.
