Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is eyeing Yves Bissouma

It’s no secret that Yves Bissouma’s Tottenham career has hit a rough patch. Once one of Ange Postecoglou’s most trusted players in midfield, the Mali international now finds himself on the fringes under Thomas Frank. His minutes have been limited, his influence reduced, and his rhythm disrupted. Postecoglou wants to reunite with him at Nottingham Forest and this could be the moment that sparks fresh life into both of their seasons.

That is as per Nottingham Post. Bissouma has struggled to find consistency since Frank arrived at Spurs. The Dane’s system has seen Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr play bigger roles, leaving Bissouma often rotating in and out of the side. It’s a frustrating situation for a player whose energy, composure, and ball-carrying ability once made him undroppable.

Postecoglou knows what Bissouma brings to the table. The Australian built much of his early Tottenham midfield around him. He’s player who can shield the defence, press high, and move the ball with confidence. If anyone can get him back to his best, it’s Ange.

Curtains for Yves at Spurs?

Forest, after a difficult start to the 2025/26 season under Postecoglou, have placed Bissouma on their January transfer wishlist to regain momentum. The midfielder is also open to a move, driven by the need for regular Premier League football and work permit considerations.

The past positive relationship with Postecoglou will surely help him decide better, in terms of facilitating the transfer, as both parties understand the tactical fit and mutual trust established during their time together at Spurs.

His season at Tottenham has remained mixed. Despite his earlier contributions, the midfielder has struggled with limited playing time and disciplinary issues, including a suspension related to an off-field incident. Nevertheless, he has expressed his commitment to hard work which shows his desire to keep contributing at the highest level. With his contract running until 2026 (Transfermarkt), Spurs could consider a January sale if a suitable offer and opportunity arise.

The move would offer a fresh start under a manager who values him highly, potentially revitalising his career and ensuring consistent playing time in the Premier League while also helping us secure a decent enough deal before he runs his contract out at Hotspur Way.
