Antoine Griezmann scored one of the best goals of his career to help Atletico Madrid thrash Celtic 6-0 in UEFA Champions League Group E on Tuesday.

It arrived in the 60th minute after Celtic defender Alistair Johnston had attempted to head clear following a cross from Marcos Llorente.

Johnston's clearance only went as far as Griezmann, who reacted incredibly by nailing a flying acrobatic volley into the net from 12 yards.

Griezmann had earlier opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a low strike from 20 yards.

Celtic were then reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Daizen Maeda was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Mario Hermoso.

Alvaro Morata made it 2-0 with a sliding tap-in just before half-time.

Six minutes after Griezmann's spectacular second goal had hit the net, substitute Lino got Atletico's fourth with a fine curling effort from a narrow angle.

Lino then set up Morata to brilliantly smash home no.5.

Saul made it six in the 84th minute with a scrappy finish from close range.
