Antonio Conte has conceded that he may have bitten off more than he can chew after agreeing to become the Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Conte was initially linked with the Spurs post over the summer, prior to the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo.

After Nuno was dismissed, Fabio Paratici was straight back on the phone to Conte, who eventually agreed to take on the challenge at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

After a steady start, Spurs fell to an embarrassing defeat to Mura in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday evening. The minnows were formed just nine years ago.

In wake of the contest, Conte acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge ahead of him in North London.

“I must be honest and tell you that after three-and-a-half weeks, I am starting to understand the situation. I can tell you that the situation is not simple. It is not simple because in this moment for sure the level of Tottenham is not so high.”

Conte is a fantastic manager, but he’s no miracle worker. He’ll be well aware that this is one of the toughest tasks he’s faced in his managerial career to date.

It remains to be seen if he’ll stick it out for the long haul or look to move elsewhere if a better opportunity arises…
