Manchester United spent heavily to bring Antony to Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2022, hoping he would become a key figure in their attack.

The Brazilian winger made an encouraging start, scoring on his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

However, consistency proved difficult to find, and his influence at United faded as he struggled to justify his transfer fee.

By January 2025, a loan move to Spain offered him the chance to rebuild his confidence away from the pressure of English football.

His performances for Real Betis brought a noticeable change in fortunes, helping him rediscover his attacking threat.

United eventually agreed to sell him permanently, allowing the Brazilian to continue his career in Spain.

Antony house robbed

Antony has now revealed on his Instagram story that his home was burgled around Real Betis’ Champions League clash with Porto, turning what should have been a memorable night into a deeply upsetting experience.

The incident came during Betis’ first Champions League fixture in over two decades against Porto, with Antony taking to Instagram Stories to explain the emotional impact the burglary had on him and his family.

In his statement, the former United winger made clear that the loss of possessions was not his biggest concern.

Instead, he was angered by the invasion of his family’s privacy and the fear it had created.

Antony wrote, “Today, I’m here to share a very sad and upsetting situation. What was supposed to be a brilliant night ended in anger and frustration.

“My house was robbed.

“It’s difficult to explain the feeling of having your personal space invaded, knowing that things we built with so much effort and dedication have been taken by someone who has no idea of the struggles we faced to achieve each and every thing.

“What makes me most angry isn’t just the material loss, but the feeling of insecurity in the very place where we should feel safest, and seeing the fear and insecurity in my family’s eyes.

“But through all of this, one thing has become even clearer to me: there is no material possession in this world more valuable than my family’s life and well-being.

“Everything we’ve lost, we can earn again. The work continues, our dreams remain, and our determination to succeed is still intact.

“What truly matters is being able to look at my family and know that we’re still together, united, and strong enough to overcome yet another difficult moment.

“The feeling of insecurity and the anger remain, but so does the certainty that our greatest wealth has never been the objects inside our house, but the people who make it a home.

“Because, in the end, my greatest achievement will always be my family.”

Antony’s time at Old Trafford remains a story of high expectations and an eventual departure.

His spell at Betis has offered an opportunity to rebuild his career, but this latest incident has brought a far more personal challenge away from the pitch.
