Arsenal have officially beaten Manchester United to the signing of a striker previously targeted by the Red Devils.

United have been busy reshaping Michael Carrick’s squad throughout this summer.

The midfield has received the biggest overhaul.

Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos arrived before Carlos Baleba completed a move from Brighton earlier this week.

Karl Darlow has also joined to provide experienced competition in goal.

However, United may still make further additions before the window closes.

Fiorentina have submitted a bid for Joshua Zirkzee, whose future remains uncertain.

Should the Dutchman leave, United could decide to add another forward before the deadline.

The latest development also adds another chapter to United’s recent transfer relationship with Arsenal.

United previously recruited Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven from the Gunners’ academy, with both subsequently progressing into the senior setup at Old Trafford.

Arsenal have since moved in the opposite direction, with Habeeb Ogunneye and James Scanlon also agreeing moves from United this summer.

Now, the Premier League champions have secured another player with a previous United connection.

Arsenal officially sign Manchester United target

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers.

United have previously attempted to sign Tyjon, with Blackburn rejecting a proposal from the Red Devils last summer.

Tyjon, 18, joined Blackburn from Rochdale in 2023 and rapidly progressed through the ranks.

He was already playing Under-21 football at 15 before making his Championship debut the following year.

Arsenal confirmed the transfer on their official website on Friday.

The striker said joining the reigning Premier League champions was a “dream come true” and highlighted Arsenal’s pathway for developing young talent.

Tyjon has also represented both England and Poland at youth level.

He featured for England at the 2025 Under-17 World Cup and has since progressed into the Under-18 setup.

United therefore miss out on a player they identified well over a year ago, with Arsenal ultimately winning the race for his signature.
