Arsenal star admits Gunners were not at their best in win over Manchester United

After contributing to Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, Kai Havertz admitted Mikel Arteta’s side were not at their usual best yet still managed to get the job done.

Havertz has proven to be a screwed signing for the Gunners and he proved influential again as United fell to their 14th league defeat of the season. A new club-record we admittedly want to avoid talking about in great detail.

The Germany international recorded an assist for Leandro Trossard’s first half goal.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Havertz said (via Just Arsenal): “Very important [win]. I think to play here is always tough. We prepared the game very well, I think we didn’t have our best game but in the end we needed that three points and we have it now. We can be very happy with that.”

To United’s credit, in dire times, we didn’t perform poorly – but perhaps Havertz’ admission is telling because Arsenal did not perform as well as they could have.

It’s never a good sign when a below par Arsenal side beats you.

They still managed to pick up three points to remain in the title race ahead of the final week of the campaign. Man City are on course to win a fourth consecutive title.

Arsenal will hope City drop points to Tottenham midweek, which would give them a chance to win the title against Everton. That seems very unlikely.
