Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in a new striker in the summer despite Dominic Solanke’s resurgence in recent weeks. The Lilywhites have struggled in the final third of the pitch and many players have underperformed this season. Yet somehow, Ange Postecoglou’s men managed to end the campaign on a high after exceeding all expectations and winning the Europa League.

Not only did the European success bring an end to the trophy drought at the club, but it also ensured that Spurs played Champions League football next season. Qualifying for that competition has now opened up new routes to bring in quality players as the Lilywhites look to close the gap on their rivals next season.

The first problem that the North London club needs to address is finding a new striker for next season. Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke admitted that he found life tough at N17 during the initial months, with many doubting the Englishman’s calibre to play for a big club. However, it is fair to say that the ex-Bournemouth star has proved his critics wrong in recent months and played a crucial part in helping Spurs win the Europa League.

There is a clear need to bring in a new number nine to compete with Dominic Solanke for next season. With Richarlison not proving as effective for Ange’s men and also heading for the exit doors at N17, Daniel Levy must act quick to find a quality replacement that could fill the attacking void left behind by the Brazilian next season.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in the summer. The Slovenian has made it clear that wants to head for pastures new in the summer after the German club failed to qualify for Champions League football next season. Now, the prolific striker wants to test himself in a new environment as he looks to take a step up in his career.

However, Tottenham have received a massive blow in their pursuit of the 21-year-old. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X) , Arsenal are now in talks to seal the deal for Sesko. The Italian journalist has also reported that Mikel Arteta rates the striker highly and has played a key part in convincing Sesko to join the Gunners. The Telegraph reports that RB Leipzig have slapped a £92.5m price tag on Sesko.

It looks increasingly likely that Spurs will miss out on the Slovenian in the summer. The fans will hope that the club shifts their focus on a new striker instead as they look to bolster their attacking ranks. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites are also interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres and view him as the perfect player to compete with Dominic Solanke for a starting spot.
