Arsene Wenger says Vinicius Jr’s Real Madrid future looks over, with Liverpool move possible

Liverpool got the better of Real Madrid on Tuesday night, and they might now have a real shot at signing one of their top players.

Alexis Mac Allister was the difference-maker at Anfield in the Champions League, but once again, most of the talk after the match centred around Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian struggled to make any impact. He failed to register a single shot, his dribble attempts went nowhere, and Conor Bradley kept him quiet throughout.

That performance came just a week after his angry reaction to being subbed off against Barcelona, adding more fuel to growing doubts about Vinicius Jr’s future at Real Madrid.

Wenger thinks Real Madrid are ready to part ways with Vinicius Jr

Following that incident during El Clasico, transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported that Real Madrid had informed Vinicius Jr he was free to leave the club. Arsene Wenger now seems to be in agreement with that view.

Speaking on beIN Sports before the Liverpool vs Real Madrid match, Wenger said: “They have a question mark about Vinicius. I’m convinced that after what happened in the last game when he was substituted, has not been accepted well in Madrid.”

“They have always had the desire to show that the club is bigger than any of the players. So I am not completely convinced that the future of Vinicius might be at Real Madrid.”

Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with Vinicius before, and there’s belief he’d be open to a move to England.

After the Barcelona game, Vinicius apologised for his behaviour and said he would keep fighting for his place at Real. But from how things look, it seems like decisions may have already been made above him.

Is it worth the gamble on Vinicius Junior?

What exactly do you get with Vinicius Junior? There’s no doubt he’s capable of game-changing moments, but his attitude has raised more than a few questions over the years.

Liverpool are in the early stages of building towards a future beyond Mohamed Salah. Bringing in someone with Vini Jr’s strong personality could end up causing issues at a time when stability is needed most.

Arsenal, meanwhile, might be a better fit for Vini Jr. They are a team that seem to revel in the so-called ‘dark arts’ and Mikel Arteta is not afraid to encourage his players to show their emotions. With Bukayo Saka on one side, Vinicius on the other, and Viktor Gyokeres through the middle, we could see Arsenal hit the next level.

There’s no doubt that any club signing Vinicius will have to pay big money to Real Madrid, regardless of his situation there, and we know the player commands a big wage, too. It will be a costly venture for any team, and one where the pay-off might just be worth it if they can handle the downside of the player’s temperament.
