Manchester United’s midfield rebuild under Ruben Amorim has been one of the most talked-about projects in European football.

The Portuguese tactician’s focus on balance, control, and discipline has reshaped the heart of United’s play.

For many fans, it’s impossible to discuss United’s midfield evolution without thinking back to the era of Paul Pogba, a player whose brilliance and controversy defined much of the previous decade at Old Trafford.

As United prepare for a demanding run of fixtures after the international break, news surrounding the Frenchman has resurfaced, but not in the way supporters might have hoped.

AS Monaco manager Sebastien Pocognoli has confirmed that Paul Pogba, now 32, will not feature against RC Lens this weekend, as his long-awaited return from injury has been delayed once more.

“Paul won’t be in the squad for this match,” said Pocognoli in a press conference.

“What is planned is a return against Rennes (after the international break, on 22nd November).

“We’ll see how he gets on in training.”

Paul Pogba was reportedly close to making his comeback against Paris FC last weekend, but suffered a grade two ankle sprain just two days before the fixture.

Despite early optimism that he might recover in time for Monaco’s clash with Lens, Pocognoli’s update confirms the former Manchester United midfielder will remain sidelined until later this month.

The setback adds another chapter to Pogba’s turbulent career since leaving Old Trafford.

Once seen as the future of United’s midfield following his record-breaking return from Juventus in 2016, Pogba’s years in Manchester were marked by flashes of genius, injury setbacks, and off-field headlines.

His move to Monaco was intended as a fresh start, yet recurring fitness issues continue to plague his resurgence.

While United have since moved on, with Amorim’s new-look midfield thriving under the leadership of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, Pogba’s ongoing struggles serve as a reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in football.
