Asking price revealed: Tottenham eyeing 27-year-old South American who is 'a class act'

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Uruguayan international defender Mathias Olivera at the end of the season.

According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, the player will cost €40 million in the summer, and Tottenham are keeping tabs on him. It remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the coming weeks.

Tottenham could use Mathias Olivera

The left back is capable of operating as a left-sided central defender as well as a wing-back. His versatility will be a bonus for Tottenham if they can sign him. Furthermore, the 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and he could prove to be a very useful acquisition.

Destiny Udogie has been underwhelming this season, and Tottenham could use more depth in that area of the pitch. Olivera is more experienced, and the competition for places could help both players improve. Also, Ben Davies is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, and the South American could be the ideal replacement for the utility man.

Olivera has been described as “a class act” by his teammates.

Tottenham need quality additions

Tottenham have had a disappointing season, and they are 17th in the league table. They will look to bounce back strongly next year, and quality players will certainly help them do so. The 27-year-old has the quality to do well in the Premier League, and he could be attracted to the idea of playing for Tottenham next season.
