Aston Villa interest in Saelemaekers after Milan comeback

According to reports in Italy, Aston Villa are ready to make an offer for Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers after his loan experience at Roma.

The 26-year-old impressed last term on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, contributing seven goals and seven assists in only 32 games, and seemed to make a good impression on new coach Max Allegri in pre-season too.

However, his future at San Siro might be up in the air, as Tuttomercatoweb and MilanNews claim that Aston Villa have set their sights firmly on his signature.

There is no formal proposal on the table yet, but the Premier League side are certainly interested and ready to step forward.

A product of the RSC Anderlecht academy, he was sold to Milan for €10.9m in 2020.

Falling out of favour in recent years, he was sent on loan first to Bologna, then Roma.

The Belgium international has 16 senior caps for his country, where he managed to score one goal and provide one assist.
