Aston Villa have six points in the Champions League league phase. The Europa League winners were far too strong for a poor Fenerbahçe at Villa Park on Wednesday, beating a side that included Nathan Aké in the starting XI 6-0. Nicolas Jackson starred for the winners.

After seven minutes, the hosts appealed loudly for a penalty when Archie Gray went to ground, but none was awarded. A few minutes later, Johan Manzambi put Aston Villa ahead with a deflected shot that flew into the net.

Fenerbahçe came out of their shell a little, only for Zion Suzuki to deny them with two fine saves. Villa doubled their lead instead. Jackson gave goalkeeper Ederson no chance with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area. The visitors' frustration grew when Oguz Aydin hit the bar late in the first half.

In the 39th minute, Jackson scored his second of the evening in fine style after good link-up play with Ross Barkley. By half-time, Fenerbahçe looked to have little prospect of a good result at Villa Park. Prince William, meanwhile, watched Unai Emery's side with pleasure.

Villa stayed on top after the break against the Turkish top club. Ederson denied Ibrahim Mbaye, while Matty Cash shot narrowly wide. Midway through the second half, Mbaye could scarcely believe he had failed to take a big chance to make it 4-0.

İsmail Yüksek then conceded a penalty, and Barkley converted to make it 4-0. Romelu Lukaku came on for the visitors late in the game, but it was far too late to prevent a heavy defeat. Shortly afterwards, Barkley made it 5-0 to the delight of the Villa fans.

Late on, substitute Tammy Abraham tapped in from very close range to complete the 6-0 win.

Despite a sluggish start to the Premier League season, Villa had secured a comprehensive victory. Fenerbahçe have another chance on Saturday when Alanyaspor visit Istanbul.
