Aston Villa are set to put in a bid for Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna this week.

The Midlands club are eager to secure the experienced left-back for a modest fee.

Acuna even admitted that he had previously been denied a move to Villa because of boardroom issues.

Sevilla president Jose Castro is not said to have a good relationship with Villa's sporting director Monchi.

They were not rumors, Sevilla had an important offer that, due to personal reasons of the president and Monchi, was not closed, and I was the one affected," he said, per Birmingham Mail.

I think I didn't deserve it because a good amount of money would have come in, but that's already happened and I'm focused now on the remaining dates."

I have a contract until 2025, but I don't know," he added.

First I have to accumulate minutes, play games and then see what comes next.

I don't know. I trust myself and the people who are in the club trust me. Afterwards, what they say from outside doesn't interest me. I always try to give my best and I think I have shown it in every game I play."
