Atalanta are expected to decide on their new coach within 48 hours, with candidates including Ivan Juric, Thiago Motta, Raffaele Palladino and Patrick Vieira.
The decision is required after Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed his exit from Bergamo, ending a reign of nine years that saw them qualify for the Champions League five times in the last seven seasons, and win the Europa League trophy.
While Gasperini has chosen Roma, Atalanta need to find his replacement and are trying to find someone who will have a similar football philosophy.
That should not be too difficult, as Gasperini mentored many of the current coaches around Serie A.
The one who worked closest with him is Juric, who was his player at Crotone and Genoa, then acted as assistant manager before going out on his own.
Despite coming off a disastrous 2024-25 season where he was fired by Roma, then took Southampton to relegation from the Premier League, Sky Sport Italia report that Juric is climbing the rankings to become a strong candidate to lead Atalanta.
The club directors had also met with Thiago Motta, who was fired by Juventus, and resigned ex- Fiorentina boss Palladino.
Another option is Patrick Vieira of Genoa, although he has attracted the eye of Inter as an alternative to first choice Cesc Fabregas.
