Manchester United are well underway with highlighting their targets for the upcoming transfer window, with strengthening the midfield a firm priority.

For some time now, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton have been linked as the top of the United shortlist.

However, with all three being valued at over £100 million, United are now preparing to break their club transfer record to sign at least one in the summer.

United fans may not have to wait as long as the summer though to see a new signing arrive, with Angelo Stiller a potential in January if funds can be raised.

That said, The Red Devils aren’t limiting themselves to these four, with the club’s recruitment team still scouting top talent for the future of the club.

As such, Calcio Mercato has reported that United scouts have been sent to watch Atalanta Under-23s midfielder Sergej Levak.

The 19-year-old arrived from AS Roma in the summer and is already impressing for his new side.

Already the midfielder has become instrumental to the starting line-up, making 13 appearances, scoring three goals so far.

With his recent form, the Croatian youngster is expected to make the jump to Atalanta’s first team soon, with Sergej Levak being likened to Rodri.

As such, it’s expected that United are looking to the talented teenager, not as immediate reinforcement for Ruben Amorim’s squad, but for the future.

It’s also understood that The Red Devils are also looking to talented youngsters as investment opportunities in a bid to turn the tides of United’s poor transfer record.
