There seems to be a fair bit of overlap regarding the head coaches that AC Milan and West Ham United have on their list of targets.

Milan are expected to part ways with Stefano Pioli at the end of the season and several managers have thus been linked with the club. The current list of candidates is quite long, with Gianluca Di Marzio mentioning Julen Lopetegui and Ruben Amorim.

The Athletic are now reporting that West Ham have ‘held talks over an ambitious move’ to appoint Amorim if they decide to part ways with David Moyes, who delivered European silverware last season but continues to divide fans.

Another option that the London club are evaluating is Julen Lopetegui, though they believe that it is possible to tempt the 39-year-old Sporting CP head coach Amorim, who has been linked with Liverpool but appears ‘unlikely’ to replace outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp.

The report adds that the potential opening is ‘thought to carry appeal’ for Amorim, it is ‘unclear where West Ham figure among his possible opportunities’ given the calibre of teams that he has been linked with so far.

Milan would have the potential to offer him Champions League football next season and potentially some backing, given the need to invest in several positions.
