Atletico Madrid legend Paulo Futre is anxiously awaiting Wednesday’s decisive Champions League showdown against Inter Milan while realizing that his beloved club is facing a daunting task.

The Round of 16 draw pitted the Nerazzurri against the Colchoneros. Simone Inzaghi bested his old Lazio teammate Diego Simeone in the first leg.

The Italian giants squandered a host of inviting opportunities in front of goals. But Marko Arnautovic eventually atoned for his earlier shortcomings by scoring the solitary goal of the match much to the delight of the San Siro crowds.

For his part, Atletico legend Futre is worried about the outcome, admitting that his club is taking on a great team.

“We are playing against a simply excellent Inter,” said the Portuguese in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“They have dominated Serie A with an authority in such an empathic manner. We are still in March and they can soon clinch the Scudetto.

“They were able to rest Lautaro Martinez and still came away victorious against Bologna.

“It’s not easy for my Atletico. But one should never sleep on this team. They have infinite resources, the famous motto is imprinted in our DNA. This is why it will be a battle.”

“If they find Griezmann in a good physical shape again, he can play a decisive role. He’s the most important element in the equation, just like Lautaro is decisive for Inter.
