Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has purchased and donated 1,000 Big Mac burgers for an annual charity event hosted by McDonald's in the forward's native Uruguay.
Adriana Garcia of ESPN reported that the 33-year-old who completed a move from Spanish giants Barcelona to Atleti last month spent €4,750 on the burgers while in Spain. The money was donated to the Ronald McDonald House Association and children from the school Liceo Impulso.
"Luis Suarez proved that the Big Day has no frontiers," McDonald's Uruguay said in a tweet translated by ESPN. "He bought 1,000 Big Macs from Spain via McDelivery to help the House Ronald, Liceo Impulso and donate to Pando's BabyLeague.
"Thank you, Luis, for putting the jersey on the Big Day! Anyone can join in wherever you are."
The Big Macs were donated to children from a youth league located in the Uruguayan city of Pando.
Suarez scored three goals and notched an assist across his first four La Liga appearances with his new club. Atleti took eight points from those contests and are eighth in the league table heading into the weekend. They play Real Betis, seventh in the table, on Saturday.
