Last Word on Football brings you the Atlético Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur team news as the clubs face off in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday at 8:00pm. Spurs’ European form has been strong this season, with a 2–0 victory at Frankfurt securing their passage from the league phase to the last 16. Despite a challenging league campaign, Tottenham’s only loss in the Champions League came against the reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain. Igor Tudor has endured a difficult start to life in the Spurs dugout, losing all three of his matches. He will be hoping that this match can provide a platform not only to progress to the quarter-finals, but also to lift spirits in their relegation battle.

Atlético Madrid managed a 7–4 aggregate win over Club Brugge in the playoff round to reach this stage. Diego Simeone’s side are enjoying a strong campaign, having defeated Barcelona to reach the Copa del Rey final last week. Comfortably in La Liga’s top four, Atlético will be able to put full focus on this encounter.

Here is the latest team news for Atlético Madrid vs Tottenham.

Tottenham Team News

Cristian Romero is eligible to play his first match since his red card against Manchester United. His defensive partner Micky van de Ven is available, although his domestic suspension means he will miss the next Premier League match against Liverpool.

There are no fresh injury concerns, and Spurs will be welcoming the return of another important defender. Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Tudor revealed: “Djed Spence is back.”

Mathys Tel and Radu Dragusin were added to the squad to replace the injured duo, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur, meaning they could feature.

However, Yves Bissouma and Souza will not take part as they are not registered in the Champions League squad.

Tudor also revealed another change to the lineup. When asked about striker Richarlison, he confirmed: “Yes, he will start.”

Yves Bissouma, Souza, Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison and Mohamed Kudus are all ruled out.
